The story behind the imprint

Notch & Salt began in the Mani — the notch where the mountains break and the salt where the sea flattens. That geography is the imprint's first title. The name arrived before the label did.

The name

Salt preserves. A notch keeps count. Between the two of them, that's most of what a book does.

The author

S.R. Clark is the author of The Grave He Digs and the founder of Notch & Salt Press. He writes from Austin, Texas.

Submission philosophy
